Mr. Krishan Kumar Aurora’s name is synonymous with excellence, perseverance, and innovation in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. As the Chairman Emeritus of Pharmed Limited, he played a transformative role in shaping the sector, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

With a career spanning over six decades, Mr. Aurora’s journey was one of remarkable dedication and unwavering commitment to quality and progress. A graduate of Bombay University, he embarked on his professional path as an accountant with A.F. Fergusons and later gained experience at Boots Pure Drug Co. (India) Ltd. His ascent in the pharmaceutical industry truly began in 1961, when he joined Smith Kline & French (India) Ltd. Rising through the ranks, he ultimately held the esteemed positions.

Mr. Aurora’s leadership extended beyond corporate success; he was an industry stalwart who played a pivotal role in shaping policies and advocating for the sector. As a member of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) since 1973, he was instrumental in addressing key industry challenges and ensuring a stronger, more resilient pharmaceutical landscape in India. His tenure as President of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (1988-89) further showcased his ability to drive impactful change. Under his leadership, the Chamber established its first office in Bangalore and he also advocated for industrial reliefs on taxes and levies for captive power generation.

Taking over Pharmed Limited in 1990, Mr. Aurora steered the company to new heights, earning the trust and respect of healthcare professionals across the country. His relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation helped position Pharmed and BioPlus Group as benchmarks in the pharmaceutical industry. His contributions were widely recognized, culminating in the Karnataka Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association honoring him in 2023 for his unparalleled impact on the sector.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Aurora was known for his humility and strong values—qualities that continue to be the cornerstone of Pharmed Limited and BioPlus Group under the leadership of his sons, Sundeep Aurora, Sunjeev Aurora, and Suneet Aurora. His vision and principles remain a guiding light for those who had the privilege of working with him and for the industry he helped shape.
